Ever wonder why there are system shortages? Maybe it’s stories like these. Microsoft has sued DHL over the loss of 21,600 Xbox 360s due to a train wreck. Microsoft is looking for $2 million in damages, certainly small change to both companies. That’s actually fairly reasonable when you consider if these were all Arcade bundles, worth about $200 retail, that’s over $4 million in lost goods. Assuming there were more expensive bundles in there, it’s even more.
The lawsuit itself Microsoft is suing for “impact damage, wetting, pilfering and shortage,” not terribly far off from what the 360 does by itself without a train crash.
