A few months back, Activision confirmed that the Wii version of Guitar Hero World Tour will support downloadable content like its Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 brethren. It’s taken a while for Harmonix to come out and say the same for the Wii version of Rock Band 2, but today did just that via a report in USA Today:

“While unannounced, MTV Games has confirmed that the upcoming Nintendo Wii version of “Rock Band 2” will offer the same online functionality — i.e. song downloads and Internet multiplayer modes — as the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 versions.”

Definitely some good news for Wii gamers, some of which are probably deep in to Rock Band 1 which just released on the platform a few months ago. How it will support it isn’t known at this point, but don’t be surprised if it’s similar to Guitar Hero World Tour’s method of loading songs from a SD card to a custom playlist.
