The trial is over. The decision has been made. Jack Thompson, game hatin’ attorney extraordinaire, is no longer such. Judge Dava Tunis has handed down her ruling in Thompson’s case with the Florida Bar, and the result is:
Gamers 1, Thompson pwnd.
If Thompson was to get anything done, like stopping the upcoming DS version of Grand Theft Auto, he would of had to do as of right now. He can no longer accept new cases, and has 30 days to close out any existing business. Oh, and Thompson needs to hand over $43,000 to the Florida Bar for the fees incurred. But hey, he won all of those trials against the game companies right? Oh… no, he didn’t. That’s gotta sting. Read a portion of this wonderful result below:
“The Court approves the corrected referee’s report and John Bruce Thompson is permanently disbarred, effective thirty days from the date of this order so that respondent can close out his practice and protect the interests of existing clients.”
And normally, it wouldn’t seem right to be so vindictive against anyone who lost their job, but after the years of harassment (including threatening to sue me personally over an editorial on another site), this is just too sweet.
