Associate producer Rey Jimenez has stated in an interview with the Street Fighter Blog that yes, by the end of the year fans may be playing the full version of SSFIIT HD Remix before 2008 is out. This would mean that players would actually be able to see the full game instead of Ken and Ryu battling it out on a single stage in the beta. That would be refreshing. Jimenez states:
“We’re on track to release the game this year and barring any unforeseen catastrophic event, that should not be changing. We are in the home stretch. We’re basically closing out all the bugs that came up in the open beta and a few other open issues.”
He also states that if he did make a release date announcement would result in his rather graphic demise at the hands of what are apparently quite powerful PR types:
“You should be hearing a release date fairly shortly. Sorry, that’s about as specific as I can get. PR would have my head on a stick if I announced a release date.”
Sounds painful, and a wise idea not to speak up, unlike this guy.
