Ryan Payton left his assistant producer post at Kojima Productions in Japan to be closer to his family in Washington. If a recent post by Kotaku’s Brian Crecente is true, he’ll be doing just that on top of taking charge of a very high profile project.
According to Kotaku’s sources, Payton has been hired by Microsoft as creative director for the Peter Jackson Halo project. While the game itself has been has been a subject of speculation since it was revealed, this along with other recent rumblings (Gearbox Software’s Corrine Yu joining the Halo team, recent job listings, etc.) would lead one to believe that something is happening with this game and an announcement might not be too far away.
Payton is most notably known for his role in the development of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. He is often credited as the person who played a large role in the game implementing an updated control scheme similar to many recent U.S. action games.
