After months of courting Take-Two, Electronic Arts tonight confirmed tonight via investor press release that they won’t create another proposal for the company and have terminated discussions as well.

“EA is tracking toward a record breaking year,” said CEO John Riccitiello. “We’re launching 15 new games including award-winners like SPORE, Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge, great new titles from the Sims, new family titles with Hasbro, and the highest quality slate of EA SPORTS titles on this generation of consoles. We’re also expanding beyond our core business with a series of direct-to-consumer launches including Warhammer Online.”

So for now, it appears that EA is happy enough with their own stable of titles. Either that, or they didn’t want to pony up what Take-Two was bringing to the table (probably the latter). With the on and off again nature of this whole thing from the start, don’t be surprised if talks pick up again.
