Rock band The Smashing Pumpkins will have a significant presence in Activision’s Guitar Hero World Tour, as the company revealed this morning that a number of their songs will appear in the game at and post launch.

On the game disc, “Today” from their 1993 album Siamese Dream will be featured in addition to frontman Billy Corgan being a playable character in-game. After launch, a Smashing Pumpkins track pack will release with three songs: “1979″, “The Everlasting Gaze”, and their new single “G.L.O.W.”. The latter will make its debut even before releasing in other formats afterwards, making it the first song to do so.

Guitar Hero World Tour ships for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo Wii later this year.
