Microsoft has cut the price of the Xbox 360 in Japan, according to a report on Reuters this morning. In a move to compete with Sony and Nintendo for marketshare, prices on all models of the system will be reduced by 30 percent.

As such, the Xbox 360 Arcade unit will now sell for 19,800 yen, which makes it cheaper than the Nintendo Wii currently priced at 25,000 yen. Both the Pro and Elite models will also be getting cuts in the range of 5,000 to 8,000 yen.

According to numerous retail outlets, North America is about to be getting price cuts on the system as well in the coming week, so gamers looking to Jump In over here that haven’t yet will definitely have a better shot.
