GameStop reported their sales and earnings for the second quarter of the year this morning. Overall, net earnings were $1,804 million, an increase from $1,338 million the previous year. The top five games for the retail outlet during the quarter were Grand Theft Auto IV, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, NCAA Football 09, Wii Fit, and Battlefield: Bad Company.
“In the second quarter, we produced record revenues in each of the geographical regions where we operate. By prioritizing our investments and focusing our resources, GameStop continues to significantly outperform the specialty retail segment as a whole, when comparing top-line growth, comparable store sales, and net earnings growth,” said R.Richard Fontaine, Chairman and CEO.
The company believes that with other titles like Guitar Hero World Tour, LEGO Batman and Gears of War 2, their sales for fiscal 2009 will grow at least 25%.
