Charlotte, NC-based Optical Experts Manufacturing (OEM) is being sued by Ubisoft for alledgedly leaking the PC version of Assassin’s Creed onto the internet for illegal downloading.
The leak, which Ubisoft is claiming a loss of revenues on, was downloaded over 700,000 times compared to the retail version selling only 40,000 units. OEM is being blamed for “an extraordinary breach of trust and gross negligence” after an employee was allowed to take the game home six weeks before its release and uploaded it online.
Ubisoft is also asking for damages and legal fees pertaining to the claims as well, amounting to no less than $10 million overall.
