Midway Games announced this afternoon their sales results for the second quarter of their 2008 fiscal year. Things weren’t all that bright, however, as net revenues for the company were $23.4 million, down nearly $8 million from the same period last year. Net losses were $34.8 million, over $20 million more than the same period in 2007.
The company has a bit more optimism for third quarter, though, with titles like Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and TNA iMPACT! on the way.
“At E3 this year, Midway showed that we have possibly our strongest holiday line-up in recent years, which we plan to kick off in September with TNA iMPACT!, a game that is garnering substantial buzz as a formidable competitor to other wrestling franchises,” said interim president and CEO Matt Booty. “Following that, we expect the releases of Blitz: The League II and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe to expand the audience beyond their core fan bases.”
