Activision announced yesterday during Microsoft’s E3 Press Conference that Metallica’s upcoming new album, Death Magnetic, will be released simulataneously as DLC for Guitar Hero III when it hits stores. It will release again during the release of Guitar Hero: World Tour, in addtion to a R.E.M. track pack.

“Our strong and balanced portfolio illustrates our ongoing commitment to delivering top-quality entertainment experiences to broad global audiences,” said Mike Griffith, president and CEO of Activision Publishing. “We are particularly excited about this fall’s Guitar Hero World Tour, which will deliver unprecedented innovation to the rhythm-based genre with new instruments, a significantly expanded song list, and a music creator to share user-generated soundtracks. Gamers will also be able to play Metallica’s new album on the day it launches.”

While I thought this was a pretty good announcement, the comedic gold was definitely the presentation of it. Red Octane co-founder Kai Huang gets up on stage, shows his passion, and the audience doesn’t exactly reciprocate the feelings. Check it out for yourself below.
