Thanks to a new preview today by GameSpot, a ton of new information on Rock Band 2’s features are now available. Topping the list of new additions is hardly shocking, but also good as Online Band World Tour is finally confirmed for the game, as well as a new “Battle of the Bands” mode where your band can compete against others across the world.

In addition, users can now create their own custom setlists to quickly get in and out of the songs they want to play solo or with friends. The game’s Solo World Tour is also getting a rehaul via a new mode dubbed Band Challenges, which will essentially be the Band World Tour customized for one player. Both of which will utilize the game’s DLC content which is cross-compatible with Rock Band 1. This time around your created avatars can also play any instrument, so virtual players can get their Trent Reznor or Dave Grohl on proper.

Info on the instruments was also discussed, with the new guitars being wireless out of the box with the ability to autocalibrate to tune to televisions better. Similar to Guitar Hero: World Tour’s drums, Rock Band 2’s drums will also be velocity sensitive with less noise.

To top all of that off, a couple of new songs were officially confirmed, which is a relief from the conflicting lists floating around the net:

“Ace of Spades” — Motörhead
“Everlong” — Foo Fighters
“Pinball Wizard” — The Who
“Panic Attack” — Dream Theater
“Any Way You Want It” — Journey
“Chop Suey” — System of a Down
“Kids in America” — The Muffs
“Give It Away” — Red Hot Chili Peppers
“Hello There” — Cheap Trick
“Pump It Up” — Elvis Costello

Rock Band 2 hits the Xbox 360 this September, followed by the PlayStation 3 at a later date.
