Electronic Arts worldwide executive of music and marketing Steve Schnur confirmed last night in an interview with GameDaily the 26 song soundtrack lineup for Madden NFL 09. Featuring the usual mix of hip-hop and rock music, the soundtrack is the largest ever for a game that is traditionally one of the most sought after soundtracks to get on by new and old artists alike because of the massive exposure.
“Over the past seven years, 77.69% of the music in Madden soundtracks has come from emerging artists,” said Schnur. “That’s 108 out of 139 total tracks. Look back at the past six Madden soundtrack line-ups today, and you’ll see plenty of familiar acts. But at the time, nearly 80% of those artists were completely unknown. The fact that a significant majority of these bands are now major stars is the ultimate true testament to the power of Madden.”
That said, Madden NFL 09’s soundtrack also features the most debut tracks in a Madden game with new artists like Timberland protege’ Izza Kizza and MySpace standouts Hollywood Undead. In addition, bands that have previously done songs for the game such as Franz Ferdinand and Shinedown return with songs from their new albums.
“This is also our biggest number of debut tracks ever in a Madden soundtrack,” said Schnur. “Franz Ferdinand, Gym Class Heroes, All-American Rejects, Underoath, Trivium, Senses Fail, Hollywood Undead, K’Naan, and Young Dre/Good Charlotte are all debuts. It’s the first time you’ll hear these songs anywhere. In fact, the track from All-American Rejects is so new that we’re using a demo version that the band begged us to use rather than be left out of the game.”
The entire 26 song list for Madden NFL 09 can be seen below. The game itself arrives next month on August 12.
