Those who have spent hour amassing a strong rank in Codemasters latest racer GRID will likely be a little shocked that it was all for naught. The company recently reset the online rankings, claiming rampant cheating and complaints. This only applies to leaderboards. Other stats, such as fastest laps, remain intact. Rich Tysoe of Codemasters tried to calm the fanbase with his explanation:

“Given the number of reports we’ve had of people abusing the ranking system to get unfair ranks, it was only fair that we did a reset… It’s never an easy decision to make, and we’d rather it hadn’t come to this, but changes in the patch should make gaining those ranking points back fairer.”

Harsh, but if the number was too high to investigate everyone, then this seems like the only choice they had.
