EA Sports made an apology to the citizens of Northern Ireland yesterday for placing the wrong song in UEFA Euro 2008 as their national anthem, according to a report on MCVUK. Instead of playing the country’s correct anthem, God Save Our Queen, The Solidier’s Song is played instead which sent both citizens and fans alike into an uproar.

“At EA Sports, we pride ourselves on delivering rich and authentic videogame experiences. We sincerely apologise for this error.” - EA Sports Spokesman Shaun White

The apology has since been accepted by Northen Ireland Sports Minister Gregory Campbell saying “Any apology on this matter is most welcome. Obviously there’s has been a lack of knowledge on the makers’ part and hopefully it will be changed as soon as possible.”

It’s good to see that EA responded to this fairly quickly, since it might mean that fans of the game can get a patch to correct it in the near future.
