As per the Byron report, UK games could possibly carry two separate ratings. Any game rated 12+ by PEGI is suggested to be evaluated by the BBFC as well, and the cost of doing so could trickle down the consumer according to Microsoft’s Neil Thompson:
“We’re concerned with any measures that would mean this process is made more unwieldy, or incurs additional costs which have to be shared with the consumer.”
If Rock Band originally cost the European crowd an astronomical amount, imagine what it would be if they had to pay for an additional rating. It might be time to prepare for some sticker shock should this idea pan out as suggested.
