Former Oakland Raider quarterback Daunte Culpepper recently made a bit of history off of the field, setting a new high score in Madden NFL 2002 that will go into the Gamer’s Edition of the Guiness Book of World Records.

Earning the record in a game he was also the cover athlete of in 2001, Culpepper established a new Guiness Record, earning 14,500 points in the game’s “Two-Minute Drill” minigame. His results were recorded at EA’s recent Madden NFL 09 event party, where Guiness was also scheduled to be to present EA Sports with two Guiness Records of its own: “Most Games in an NFL series (16)”, and “Highest First Week Sales of an NFL Game (2 million units for Madden NFL 07).”

Now that he’s got the record, it would appear to be a GREAT time to put the controller down and actually find a team before the preseason starts.
