More announcements are coming out from Sony’s presentations today regarding their future plans for the PlayStation 3. Following news of the company’s upcoming movie downloads service, Sony Computer Entertainment head Kaz Hirai unveiled “Life with PlayStation”, a new feature for the system.
With it, users can check their news and weather from locations from across the globe, which is very familiar to what the Nintendo Wii has. It appears to be slightly different though, as news pages are launched within the browser, whereas Nintendo’s is a content partnership with the AP. In addition, you’ll also be able to listen to background music while browsing the interface.
“For the primary version the application sticks to the present time but in the future we plan to build a system that can visually present stored photos and movies according to their recorded time and place, allowing users with their friends and family to enjoy the visuals in chronological order,” said Hirai.
There’ll probably be more on this, among other Sony items, as E3 2008 rolls around so stay tuned.
