As promised, Microsoft has finally addressed DRM issues that have plagued downloadable content on the 360 since launch. For the uninitiated, anyone who had a 360 replaced due to repair (a lot of people) or upgraded to a better model, lost the ability to play their purchased content unless they were connected to Xbox Live to verify.

This online tool finally allows users to transfer the license of their software to the new console. Note that even after doing this, you still need to re-download everything manually on the Xbox 360 itself, which is incredibly inconvenient for those us who have 90+ purchased Arcade games (this writer included) or have loads of Rock Band/Guitar Hero content (that’d be me - Q) that needs transferred. Still, it’s a fix, and at least Microsoft has listened to the community outcry. For more information, Joystiq secured an interview with Marc Whitten, Lives General Manager that asks some of the basics and looks ahead.
