San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker was named the global cover athlete for NBA Live 09 this morning by EA Sports. In doing so, Parker will be the first European born global cover athlete for the series.
“I have a long history with EA SPORTS. I’ve been on the cover in France for five years straight and I’ve been playing NBA LIVE for as long as I’ve played basketball,” said Parker. “It’s a real honor for me as a European player to now be represented on the worldwide cover.”
In addition to Parker, Andrea Bargnani, Pau Gasol, and Luol Deng will represent Italy, Spain, and the UK, respectively, by being cover athletes for those specific versions.
While Parker is this year’s global cover guy, savy sports gamers will know this isn’t the first version of the game he’s been on the cover of. In 2004, he was chosen to cover the French edition of NBA Live 2005.
Some additional features were also revealed in the announcement, and can be found below.
