Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that they have stopped production on Eight Days and The Getaway for the PlayStation 3, according to a report on Gamesindustry.biz this morning.
Citing the redistribution of resources and budget as the primary reason, no other explanations were given regarding the cancellations other than stating that the the resources currently working on the titles would be reallocated to projects closer to being finished.
“This decision was made following an internal review of all games and it was deemed that with the incredibly strong list of exclusive first party titles coming up both this year and in the near future, resource should be reallocated to enhance those projects closer to completion.
“Worldwide Studios has a reputation for innovative and entertaining games, with titles such as LittleBigPlanet, SingStar,Buzz, EyeToy and Eye of Judgement, and will continue to push the boundaries on all PlayStation platforms.” - Sony Computer Entertainment Europe
The news of these cancellations also comes not too long after Shuhei Yoshida’s appointment as President of the company’s worldwide studios, so there’s a good chance that this is one of his first decisions in his new role.
