Looking for Wii Fit? You and countless other Wii owners too.

Michael Pachter, game industry analyst for Wedbush Morgan Securities, sees this shortage as a move by Nintendo to maximize the European dollar, currently higher than its US counterpart.

“The shortage demonstrates one consequence of the weak dollar. We’re seeing companies ignore their largest market simply because they can make a greater profit elsewhere.”

He also believes Nintendo knows the US audience:

“They know that Americans will be just as fat a few months from now.”

Good call, Michael. Good call.
