Embargoes are nothing new to video game reviews, or any other kind of media reviews for that matter. Typically, items such as story spoilers or game length are the items you can’t talk about, but what happens when you’re told to refrain from discussing something directly tied to the gameplay experience?
According a story posted today by Stephen Totilo on the MTV Multiplayer Blog, this is looking to be the situation as a number of anonymous sources revealed to him that Konami reps have been asking reviewers to refrain from mentioning Metal Gear Solid 4’s cut-scene length and installation time.
“I’ve been told by two gaming media sources who asked to remain anonymous that Konami representatives had been asking print reviewers to keep some technical details out of their reviews, namely the length of the game’s cut-scenes and the size of the game’s installation on the PlayStation 3.” - MTV Multiplayer Blog’s Stephen Totilo
Being a longtime MGS fan, I wasn’t exactly floored upon the rumors of the game having long cut-scenes, but 90 minutes is really going to be pushing it if true. As far as the installation time, remember, it’s best not to panic.
