It appears that being a virtual rock star is beginning to pay off for some folks. This morning, The Ant Commandos, makers of guitar controllers that are compatible with both Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, revealed that they’ve signed 16-year old Chris Chike as their new spokesperson in an exclusive, long-term deal to promote the company’s products.
Earlier this year, Chike earned his place in the gamer’s edition of the Guiness Book of World Records, beating Dragonforce’s “Through the Fire and Flames” with a 840,647 points. Since then, he’s added to that score, now reaching 975,412 with 99% accuracy according to ScoreHero.com.
“As a competitor, it’s important to me to have the best possible guitar to compete with, so I am psyched to work with TAC on creating custom guitars that serious players can rock with,” said Chris Chike.
Chike is also working with TAC on their next guitar controller, which they say is designed for more hardcore players.
“Chris has accomplished an amazing feat scoring close to one million points on the hardest song in Guitar Hero III,” said Raymond Yow, Director of Marketing at TAC. “Being a record-setting champion of Guitar Hero, he demands the highest quality peripherals so his performance is at its very best. He is the perfect spokesperson for TAC.”
