Heather Trujillo, the 17-year-old Johnston, Colorado girl accused of killing her half-sister in a style imitating Midway’s Mortal Kombat, pleaded guilty this afternoon to child abuse causing death.
By taking the plea and agreeing to testify against her boyfriend, Lamar Roberts, Trujillo will reduce her own charges from a Class 3 to Class 2 felony. She still faces 12 to 18 months, which can be suspended if she completes six years in the state’s Youthful Offender System.
According to authorites at the scene, Trujillo and Roberts imitated a fatality in the game while wrestling 7-year-old Zoe Garcia, who eventually died from blunt force trauma.
