Next-Gen’s interview with Marc Whitten, General Manager of Xbox Live, shed some light on upcoming changes. The biggest announcement is that owners should not be expecting a Spring dashboard update:

“We have taken a different approach this spring and spent a lot of our time and resources of building the proper infrastructure and scale for the service not just today but also into the future”

However, the bright side to this non-update will be a fix for the dreaded DRM issues that prevent players from loading their Live Arcade games without being connected to Live after purchasing a new system or getting one repaired. While he doesn’t go into specifics about how it will be done, he does state that the fix is on its way:

“… the team will be releasing a new digital rights management (DRM) tool next month that will allow you to better consolidate your licenses for downloaded content to a single Xbox and allow you the freedom to be able to play your content both online and offline.”
