Stunning gamers in 2004, Tomonobu Itagaki’s take on Ninja Gaiden sold 1.5 million copies (in conjuction with the sales of Ninja Gaiden Black). That spurred a sequel, now exclusive to the Xbox 360. However, many will be disappointed to know this will be Itagaki’s final game in the series.

“Personally I think we were able to create the definitive 3D game in this series so I’m not planing on making any other games in the series, so I hope fans treat this as a swan song for the franchise.”

While this wouldn’t stop other developers inside Tecmo from releasing their own spin on Ninja Gaiden, the Itagaki era is apparently over.
