The folks over at Guiness World Records confirmed this morning what many thought to be true already, as they have announced that Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV is now officially the best entertainment launch of all-time. Selling 3.6 million units and earning $310 in the first 24 hours of release, GTA IV easily surpassed its competition to claim the honor.
For comparison, Guiness provided the following sales data for the competitors:
Halo 3: Previous fastest-selling video game in 24 hours at $170 million
Spider-Man 3: Fastest-selling movie in 24 hours at $60 million
Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Fastest-selling book in 24 hours at $220 million
