It’s been no secret that Electronic Arts has been one of the biggest supporters of the Nintendo Wii since the system’s launch in 2006. Aiming to take that a step further, the company announced two new initiatives today for the console that they hope will grow the sports genre’s presence on the system even more.

The first of those new announcements is the creation of Freestyle, a new EA subbrand of sports games that won’t be associated with any leagues or licenses. The second is “All-Play”, a new gameplay mechanic designed with options to use “simpler controls and quicker games.”

The first game to release under the new Freestyle label is Facebreaker, EA’s cartoon boxer slated to arrive this September.
